ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੰਪਿਊਟਰ ਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸਕਰੀਨ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਡੈਸਕਟਾਪ (Desktop) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ 'ਤੇ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਓਪਸ਼ਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ:
1. Icons (ਆਈਕਨ):
ਇਹ ਛੋਟੇ-ਛੋਟੇ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ ਜਾਂ ਫਾਈਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ:

2. Taskbar (ਟਾਸਕਬਾਰ):
ਇਹ ਸਕਰੀਨ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਲੰਬੀ ਪੱਟੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ 'ਤੇ ਇਹ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ:
Start Button (ਸਟਾਰਟ ਬਟਨ)
Search Box (ਖੋਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਖਾਨਾ)
Pinned Apps (ਚਿਪਕਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਐਪਾਂ)

Start Button ਉੱਤੇ ਕਲਿਕ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇੱਥੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ:
Installed programs (ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਫਟਵੇਅਰ)
Settings (ਸੈਟਿੰਗ)
Power options (Restart, Shutdown ਆਦਿ) ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
4. Wallpaper / Background (ਵਾਲਪੇਪਰ ਜਾਂ ਪਿੱਛੋਕੜ):
ਡੈਸਕਟਾਪ ਦੀ ਬੈਕਗ੍ਰਾਊਂਡ ਇਮੇਜ ਜਾਂ ਰੰਗ।
5. Right Click Menu (ਸੱਜੀ ਕਲਿੱਕ ਮੀਨੂ):
ਡੈਸਕਟਾਪ 'ਤੇ ਮਾਊਸ ਦੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਕਲਿੱਕ ਕਰਨ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮੀਨੂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ 'ਚ:
